The Holy Spirit Is A Gift 🎁

Peter replied, “Repent and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins. And you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.” Acts 2:38

What’s the greatest GIFT you’ve ever received? I’m betting it’s something you haven’t even thought about. That’s why it’s been on my heart the last several weeks to talk about the Holy Spirit in my series “He Is Fire.” When I asked about a gift you mind may have went to your last birthday present. In fact, the greatest gift you’ve ever received is a “personal possession” of sorts but in a different kind of way. So follow me on this: As a Christian, you have been POSSESSED BY A PERSON – the Holy Spirit. Both Jesus and the Bible actually refer to him as a gift (Acts 1:4). In the early church and today, this “gift” is a powerful presence in the life of a believer. That’s why Peter encouraged everyone to repent. When someone does, they receive God’s presence. In that moment many people speak in tongues or perform incredible signs that show God is with them in an experiential way. Others see God’s power move through them as evangelists or servant leaders. This is phase two of God’s Gift. When the Holy Spirit changes your heart and fills you, he gives you “gifts” that help you accomplish his work in the world. What is your gift? God has given you one or more. IN ADDITION, you have God himself as the greatest gift of all living inside of you in the person of the holy Spirit. How awesome and reason to get your gift on today!
