Study Reference for Small Groups: Judges 6:11-12
Good afternoon friends! In the 1500’s, William Shakespeare introduced the word SWAG to the world. It was known in a more negative context but has since taken on a positive meaning. Nowadays, if you have SWAG, you’re looked at has having supreme talent, wealth, or overall confidence. In the book of Judges 6:11-12, we see a young man named Gideon who is lacking the confidence that he needs to push forward. So much so that he did his work in secret to keep others from seeing him. In today’s culture, a simple tweet or post to social media can derail our SWAG and keep us from stepping out boldly in the world. But... there’s good news! The Lord Jesus has the power to provide the ultimate SWAG to whoever asks for it! There isn’t anything that can take away the assurance that can be had in God. Who or what is it that’s keeping you from being brave today? What circumstances have you been put in that has taken your confidence? Philippians 4:13 says “I can do ALL things through Christ who strengthens me.” There’s strength, power, and confidence in the name of Jesus. So take some time to analyze all that God has done for you. Understand that there is no place, no circumstance, and no predicament that you can’t overcome. Turn your stress into SWAG!
