I'm Doing a BILLBOARD CAMPAIGN! 😮

“While Paul was waiting for them in Athens, he was greatly distressed to see that the city was full of idols. So he reasoned in the synagogue with both Jews and God-fearing Greeks, as well as in the marketplace day by day with those who happened to be there.” Acts 17:16-17

Wow friends! I CAN’T believe I’m doing this! I decided to do a BILLBOARD CAMPAIGN in my community. You can find out why in my new video “Why I’m Doing a Billboard Campaign” (@pastorajplatt on social media). To sum things up for you it all comes down to ONE THING. As the church, we’ve got to push back the darkness we see advancing into our homes and our communities. I could show you COUNTLESS examples of this in the Bible. Gideon TORE DOWN pagan statues in his community. Elijah confronted and openly MOCKED the prophets of Baal. Even our Lord hit the religious leaders of his day RIGHT BETWEEN THE EYES (metaphorically speaking) with their own immorality. This is something we’ve been studying in my new series “Mean Jesus.” I say these things to point out that we’ve got the SAME CALLING TODAY! Yes—we—do. God commands us to take ground from the enemy and that’s what I intend to do here. Take a look at the example we started with: When Paul was surrounded by paganism and idolatry, he IMMEDIATELY pushed back by reasoning with people day-by-day in the synagogue and the marketplace. What’s the ancient “marketplace?” It’s the equivalent of today’s churches, centers of commerce and social media platforms. That’s right. Things haven’t changed much. That is true everywhere but especially when it comes to the nature of the human heart. In that regard, I thought it was interesting that Paul was “distressed” because of his surroundings. Like many of you, I often feel the SAME WAY in our contemporary culture which seems as though it’s being plunged into deeper and deeper depravity. Well, like Paul and our other Biblical examples, I’m pushing back and I’m asking you to join with me in the coming weeks while I seek to confront the our marketplace with the life-changing message of the Gospel. Most importantly, PRAY that God will change minds in our community and elsewhere about the person of Christ and the truth of the Bible. That is my mission. Will you join me?
