šŸ˜±Ā What is Calvinism?? šŸ§

Updated: Mar 2

ā€œFaith comes by hearing and hearing by the Word of Christ.ā€ Romans 10:17

Ā

How on earth are yā€™all doinā€™ friends?! Todayā€™s message is SO special Iā€™m breaking out my FAKE southern accent in writing! So, in light of that, Iā€™d like to ask you this question: Have you ever heard of Calvinism? If so, what do you know or think šŸ¤”Ā about it?

Ā

A lot of people associate that word with the Biblical idea of ā€œpredestinationā€ but thereā€™s a little more to it than that ā€¦.

Ā

In FACT, if youā€™re interested in the topic (or would just like to learn a little more), watch my NEW VIDEO linked below šŸ‘‡šŸ‘‡šŸ‘‡

Ā

What many people donā€™t realize is that the whole topic goes a little deeper than the topic of predestination. And as far as Calvinists go, thereā€™s another important theological question they seek to answer: ā€œWhere does FAITH come from?ā€

Ā

Have you ever thought about that before? We all know that we are saved by faith and that faith is not a work. Yet, if youā€™re like me, you realize you didnā€™t just WAKE UP one day and ā€œdecideā€ to follow Jesus ā€¦ my apologies to the old hymn writer šŸ¤Ŗ

Ā

Calvinism answers this question by saying ā€œregeneration (or being born again) PRECEDES faith.ā€ For example, if you look at the verse we began with, you see that two things produce faith: 1) Gospel proclamation (the Word of Christ in the context of Romans 10) and a new spiritual nature (ā€œhearingā€ the Gospel internally). From this concept, flow all five points of Calvinism, including the idea that you canā€™t lose your salvation!

Ā

I hope that helps or at least makes you think a little this week! Happy Jesus Day (Sunday) yā€™all!!

Ā

Application:

What do you know about Calvinism?

Ā

Have you ever thought about how miraculous your salvation is?

Ā

What do you think about the idea that God produces faith in you?
