âIn her deep anguish Hannah prayed to the Lord, weeping bitterly. And she made a vow, saying, âLord Almighty, if you will only look on your servantâs misery and remember me, and not forget your servant but give her a son, then I will give him to the Lord for all the days of his life.ââ 1 Samuel 1:10-11
Hello friends and HAPPY Motherâs Day to all of our moms! This weekâs take away is a topic thatâs familiar to our moms. Itâs the idea of âEXPECTINGâ and in this weekâs video (linked below) I discussed how we need to RAISE our expectations in our schools to open doors for Godâs presence with my friend and evangelist Jed Hill. Now letâs get back to our opening scripture âŠ
Isnât Hannahâs story AMAZING?! She was the beloved wife of Elkanah, a righteous Israelite from the tribe of Ephraim (one of Josephâs two sons). The BIG problem was that Elkanahâs other wife, MOCKED and MANIPULATED Hannah because she had no children. God, however, was up to something because Hannah was EXPECTING. Thatâs right. What I mean is that Hannah was expecting before she was âexpecting.â In other words, she BELIEVED her Heavenly Father could fix her barrenness and EXPECTED him to do so with her prayer at the Tabernacle in Shiloh. Therefore, we can safely say that Hannah was âexpectingâ because she was expecting. Consequently, she gave birth to Samuel, Israelâs final judge and the prophet who anointed King David.
Oh, baby! Hannah was EMPTY but she had EXPECTATIONS. What are you expecting your Father to do for you today?
Application:
Read 1 Samuel 1-2. How can you relate with Hannah?
Is there anything you need to give over to God with expectations for something new?
Tell YOUR MOM how much you love her today! Thanks moms!!!
